News Click here for our Monthly Newsletter DVDA STUDENTS - REGISTER TODAY FOR ALL 2008-09 CLASSES! The summer is flying by and believe it or not it is time to register for the fall. DVDA is currently accepting registrations for our 2008-09 year of dance classes. SUMMER CLASSES AT DVDA DVDA’s Upper Division
Ballet classes at Delaware Valley Dance Academy have continued with their usual intensity this summer, and hardworking dancers are beginning to feel the pay off: Technique is becoming second nature, stretches are being maximized, and turns are becoming more precise. However, this summer at Delaware Valley Dance Academy, the inspiration is being enhanced by several brilliant dancers from the Pennsylvania Ballet.
Intermediate and Advanced level students were privileged to study with Dede Barfield, a former principal dancer who had an extensive career with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Ms. Barfield, whose own training took her from Texas to New York City at the age of 16, lent her expertise and encouragement while connecting with students at DVDA. Ms. Barfield’s knowledge of kinetics and motion was apparent in her poignant, and often humorous, corrections and explanations. The students wholly enjoyed having the opportunity to work with such a beautiful and accomplished dancer on such an intimate level though they are no strangers to talented teachers. Meredith Reffner also taught a master class at DVDA. Miss Reffner whose husband, Rick Callender, dances with the Jean Ruddy Dance Company, is a familiar face around the studio. Both she and husband, Rick, coach DVDA students in partnering and performance variations during the regular school year. In addition, Delaware Valley Dance Academy is privileged to have Charity Eagens also a former dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet as one of its full-time faculty members. Ms. Eagens’ instructs the Intermediate and Advanced levels during the regular school year as well as the summer season. Inspired and encouraged, students at Delaware Valley Dance Academy are looking forward to an exciting fall season filled with rehearsals, performances, and using what they’ve learned this past summer.
DVDA’s Younger Division DVDA’s little protégé’s have just completed their very own dance intensive in our Cinderella camp. The youngest students at Delaware Valley Dance Academy spent a week making fairy tale magic by learning about the story of Cinderella. Through role-play, ballet, tap, arts and crafts and story telling, our budding ballerinas found that when the shoe fits, the have a ball dancing. |
